It’s become the new icon for IVF, and wearing or even displaying a pineapple can powerfully suggest the life-changing event that you are going through. Being associated with raising awareness or funds, all proceeds generated are being donated to fertility clinics to further the benefits of the treatment.
The pineapple is a symbol of solidarity, of support, of the assurance, that you are not in this alone, we are all there to support you. It’s a great way of normalizing the conversations around IVF and removing the taboo around it.
Social Media has propelled the usage of this symbol and soon it will be used all across the world. A reason why the pineapple, is because the process of undergoing treatment sometimes fills women with guilt, the pineapple with its stoic shape, reminds people to stand tall, wear a crown, and never back down.
The process of figuring out whether there is a child in your future or not is a troubling one. Women need all the support they can get, they need a symbol they can garner inspiration from, and one that motivates is a great way to fill them with hope encouragement, and support.
